Hey Guys, I have a VDSl connection using Fritzbox 7430 and I'm moving to fiber with SIP lines. The question is, could I use the same modem on fiber and is it good on VoIP?I was told that this modem isn't good on VoIP, should I change it? Thanks in advance!!Ed Neto

Skype ringtone
Please may I ask:Can anyone suggest a workaround that would cause a Skype incoming call to start a second ringtone from a windows 10 laptop. The Skype "modern" ringtone is not audible when the user is out of the room. A previously configured earlier version of Skype with an uploaded loud bell wav has been lost to updates. Thanks in advance

howto test/measure quality of a VoIP service?
Can anyone assist with methods to measure the quality of a VoIP service? I am interested in measuring total delay for voice in each direction or the total turnaround .. also how to quantify other impairments eg distortion, noise, audio dropouts/gaps .. I have a customer whose voice quality is very poor, and a delay which seems to approach 1 sec. I am thinking of recommending they change to a 2Talk solution (which they are already trialing), but it would be good to have some hard data.

Caller ID via VOIP on VF Ultrahub
We have recently gone to fibre, with VOIP, ditching copper. We continued our subscription to Caller ID. The number is displayed on the phones, but the internal modem in the server only detects the number about one time out of 10. Data is detected almost every time, but it is often garbled and unusable. I suspect that, like getting fax over VOIP, this is never going to work. The ultrahub dutifully records the calls as they come in, but is there any way I can get at this data? Or decode an incoming SIP message which must contain the info. I have put wireshark on the LAN but no VOIP-related messages appear. I suspect the Ultrahub processes them and doesn't pass anything on. There is a setting ALGs-SIP but that didn't seem to do anything either. I tried Wireshark on a spare ONT port, but nada. It probably successfully switches VOIP-releated packets direct to the ultrahub. How am I going to read the caller number, preferably leaving something else to deal with the actual call? A separate ATA box? Network tap on the ONT->Ultrahub connection? With the near gigabit rate I am getting, a suitable tap would be expensive.RegardsKenUPDATEMentioning Fax made me wonder if there was an answer there. I have reduced the baud rate the modem uses from 115200 to 9600 - so far so good. I'd still like to know about the other things above.

Calls to 2talk number not going through
I had an ex-vodafone landline ported to 2talk about a month ago, haven't had any issues so far but today its stopped working. If I call the number from my mobile it works but from when I test it from my home landline its saying this number is not active... Tried resetting the line, restarting equipment and changing the forwarding number but still the same. Any ideas?

NZ VoIP providers that support "pickup confirmation" ?
I'm looking for options for local VoIP providers which support pickup confirmation so when calls are forwarded to mobile etc you get prompted with "press X key to answer" preventing the call from ending up in voicemail?I've used 2talk in the past but they don't have this feature.I currently just need 1-2 numbers which will either forward to mobile or be picked up on SIP client when available + usual cloud PBX features.Must also support number portability so I can port local 09 number to/from if needed.

MS killing Skype Classic (v7) Support
1st September Microsoft is killing support for Skype version 7 (known as Skype Classic). By killing I mean it will stop working on the Skype network. The new version 8 for all platforms has had ferocious negative feedback. From terrible unusable UI, to missing facilities from version 7, to lost contacts & history, non connections, unable to sign in with version 7 Skype account and forcing you to have a Microsoft account or Office 365 account then you can use your Skype user name, the list of negativity is extensive.I briefly, unintentionally, tried Version 8 last year when it was first released, HATED it.Skype new version 8 what a S**T load of rubbishBut now as off Sept 1st we will have no choice but to upgrade. Being a macOS & Apple iOS user with MS Windows contacts I need a cross platform VOIP program. Am thinking of swapping to Viper and persuading others in my contacts to do the same. What are forum members views?

Cordless Dect Phones 2018
Hi. What are the current recommendations for phones? I see grandstream dp720 and Yealink w52p seem most popular. Want something with a good speakerphone, good range. I'd love it if the base station wasn't massive.

Setting up a SPA303 with 2talk
Hi All,I'm a complete noob trying to set this phone up with our 2talk account. I've gone as far as trying various methods to get this to work.I have verified that my credentials and settings are correct as I can successfully connect to the server using x-lite.Can someone guide me through on how to set this phone up instead? I've searched the forums for some instructions around this but haven't found anything that is useful.Currently line 1 is orange with a failed login attempt. When the press the button (orange) to access line one, it shows on the LCD Failed (403).I have factory reset and upgraded the phone to the latest firmware - 7.6.2 at this time.Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Also apologies if this has been answered before and is really a noob question. Thanks.

Clipboard Dialing and presence to Yealink Phones

Yeastar TA100 ATA setup with Vodafone fibre and third party router
No good behaviour award for Vodafone this week, wasted hours trying to get Draytek 2760 router to connect to their fibre with their instructions to authenticate PPPoE, and included in this advice was username@vodafone.com (.com? really? yes) - please note Vodafone, third party routers like this one should be set up as DHCP. With this background in mind, one is inclined to seek a second opinion when Vodafone CSR now claims the analog phone line cannot work with the Draytek router and the client must use their supplied Huawei HG659.I figure it should be possible to configure a TA100 on the LAN side of the Draytek for one analog line? Is there a setup guide anywhere for this?

Checkpoint Firewall Router with 2talk
Hey guys,Has anyone got experience with a Checkpoint 6xx, 7xx or 11xx firewall/router and configuring it to let 2talk SIP through?Even with every blade turned off, the Checkpoint prevents all incoming calls to my Cisco SPA502G via the UDP protocol (they're sent to VM).When I set the SPA to the TCP protocol, I end up with registration issues and calls connecting but no audio.I've read in these forums and from 2talk support about disabling ALG.But I can't figure out where and how to do this on the appliance.Any advice or tips would be much appreciated! Thanks heaps.Phil

Newbie VOIP / 2TALK question
Hey sorry for the dumb questions but new to VOIP... so we currently have fibre with a phone line via My Republic but looking to move away from them to probably Bigpipe or similar. We only have the phone line for when the MIL stays with us so she has local calling for her friends / they can call her for free. So, I was thinking of just getting the $10 2Talk home bundle - and then from what I have googled she can get an app for her iPhone that will route the local calls to that? So, in theory she would open app x - dial the number and 2talk would route it to the normal land line on the other end?And likewise if someone calls our local 2talk number the app on her iPhone will ring (I assume like Viber or Skype would) Do I have the technology correct? - and if so can anyone recommend an easy to use VOIP app for 2talk for iOS? Don't mind spending a few dollars on it so long as it's straight forward and works. She will only be using it for calling / receiving calls. Thanks
