IP dialing

$

I can't, for the life of me, get IP dialing to work between two ATA on the same subnet.I have read numerous pages offering information, but none seems to fix my issue.

I would like House B to be able to dial House A if the internet is down *, but all IP dialing info either assumes an internet connection, or that, as I don't have an internet connection, I am good to turn off "register" on the ATA.Each ATA is on a separate SIP account, and data between the two houses goes through an Archer C7 router.

I've read pages that tell me to simply turn on "Make/Ans call without reg", turn on "IP dialing", maybe add a quickdial to the dialplan (e.g. 22S0<:@192.168.1.100:5060>, put URI in Speed Dial . . ..The speed dial didn't even want to dial a normal number until I turned on the option Speed Dial Serv, which none of the pages even mentioned. However, various combinations of address in the speed dial field returned only beep..beep..beep..beep.

Is it unrealistic to expect one ATA to communicate with the other via LAN without the VSP? Am I missing something blindingly obvious?Information on the relevant sites for the PAP2T and SPA2102 is woefully lacking on the functionality of IP dialing.

* incoming internet is at my house, and if that fails early in the morning, someone has to come over from the other house to wake me up and fix it!

2talk: One number, transfer between devices?

$

Is it possible to transfer a call between devices that are using the One Number (shared line) feature of 2talk, either by 'call parking', or attended/blind transfer, or another method?

I have 2 VoIP devices that run different lines at home:

  1. Single "Home" personal line: Grandstream HT801, 0x-xxxxxxx, runs multiple cordless Panasonic handsets around the house (e.g. kitchen, bedroom)
  2. Office: Grandstream GXP2170 - with multiple work lines:
    1. Plus runs "home" line as 'One Number', e.g. 0x-xxxxxxx-1

Scenario:

  1. I'm working in the office
  2. The "home" line rings on the GXP2170 (as 'one number')
  3. Keeps ringing and ringing (meaning wife hasn't picked up Panasonic phone)
  4. I answer call, but its for the wife, or I need to take the call on a cordless phone (e.g. discuss something in the garage)
  5. How can I transfer or park the call, so its taken on one of the cordless Panasonic phones connected to HT801?

Possible?

Or should I stop taking the wife's calls ????

SIP/VOIP Questions

Hi.

One of the things that is preventing us from moving to SIP/VOIP over our existing Samsung OfficeServ 7030 system, is the Samsung DialXchange product which is an app that is loaded on our PC's which shows call logs, presence, and allows for clipboard dialling.

Is anyone aware of any Cloud PABX or solutions that work off IP only devices, that supports this?

Cheers

Slingshot VoIP with Yeastar TA100 ATA

I'm on Slingshot fibre with a VoIP phone service and I'm trying to get a Yeastar TA100 ATA working so I can connect an analogue phone. I've read all the related posts here and I seem to have got it almost fully working. I can successfully place outbound calls, but inbound calls just go to a disconnected tone. The Yeastar's own status page also seems to think that the connection is fine, but that the phone is disconnected (despite the fact that the phone can place outbound calls successfully).

Is there anyone that could share their Slingshot settings or suggest a fix to try here? I'm thinking I probably need to source another analogue phone from someone to see if the Yeastar detects it as connected, as it kinda seems like everything is working except the phone actually being detected.

Here are my current settings:

port request - company wont release number

Im currently having difficulty with a company who we have our 0800 number with, they are trying to play silly buggers and not release our 0800 number so we can port it into our own phone system because they 'own the phone number'

Now, I always thought there was some sort of legal requirement for them to release it should we request them to?

I've tried googling so I can send him a link saying 'well you kinda have to' but im not a voice guy so my searches aren't yielding much.. is someone able to help?

Or.... am I completely wrong here?

Recommend a Voip App 2Talk IOS

Can anyone recommend an app for the above.?

I've been using the generic 2talk app but it never wakes up and rings on the iPhone .

I never close the app, and according to 2Talk it ‘should ‘ work but doesn't. Many years ago I used Bria but it was really bad for battery drain.

How long should it take to port two phone numbers from copper to VOIP?

Hi all,

I am changing my service provider from Digital Island to Vodafone. I have two POTS phone numbers which need to be ported to a VOIP connectoin.

I have been able to make calls on the new service via VOIP/fibre since last Friday but it I still can't receive calls through the new service as yet (Tuesday). Is this an unusual amount of time to complete the transfer? Who is dragging the chain?

I thought number portability was the essence of a fair market.

p.s. of course I made the change prior to knowing Spark would have provided free access to RWC if I'd signed with them ??

Porting Picton to Christchurch

Ive got a couple of question on porting.

My elderly parents are moving down to Christchurch from Picton. They would like to retain the number they have had for 20 odd years if possible. Both Christchurch and picton are in the 03 calling area so first question is can their number be ported (to 2Talk) from Picton to Christchurch.

I'm going to get them a cisco spa504g because they are pretty cheap but primarily because the cisco ip phones seem to have great handsfree capability and mum with parkinsons struggles to hold a handset next to her ear. I've also got a 504g and I've had no problems at all with it.

The building of their new home is almost complete and they take possession in about 4 weeks. They will be getting their internet service from Spark over fibre.

Assuming the number can be ported I plan to simply add the number to my own 2 talk account as an additional line.

Can I have one of my lines (my own) go to my own house and their number go to an ip phone in their house.

Thanks

I've obtained a couple of Cisco SPA504G phones recently, and plan on using them with my 2Talk plan.

Is there any reason why not to use them ? I ask as people seem to be giving these units away....is there something Im not aware of with them and should avoid ? :)

I know theyre old units.......

Recommendations for DECT cordless IP Phone

Can anybody suggest a good reliable VoIP DECT handset please? Very simple requirements...answer/dial/transfer

Currently a Cisco SPA and with 7 analog DECTs attached but two have died and need to be replaced. Transferring calls from these units with a double hookflash confuses the staff so I think I'm best to retire these over time and run VoIP handsets.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has attempted getting their slingshot homeline working on their own ATA with success. I can't seem to get mine up and running, even though Slingshot has been helpful with some configs on their side:

SIP Proxy: voice.slingshot.co.nzSIP Proxy Port: 5060

SIP Outbound Proxy: voice.slingshot.co.nzSIP Outbound Proxy Port: 5060

SIP Registrar: voice.slingshot.co.nzSIP Registrar port: 5060

Can anyone help me?

I've followed the basic setup mentioned here for regional settings: http://blog.2talk.co.nz/spa122.html and

VOIP Technology - soft phone or hardware?

$

Hi everyone, I run a small telemarketing business with 5 staff and I desperately need help with the different VOIP technology options. I am in no way a techy. I just need some advice before the sales people try to bamboozle me and take me for a ride.

I currently have a Ericsson LG Hybrid phone system (UCP100), 10 SIP trunks and 6 LIP 9010 phones and 6 headsets. I will finish the lease to own in approximately one month and have a VOIP software solution contract which finishes in about a month also. I'm unhappy with the service the current provider has given me hence why I'm looking for alternative and affordable solutions.

Option 1 - stick with the current hardware and try to find a cloud-based solution that fits with the PBX (assuming the PBX is the UCP 100). So I will need super fast broadband and VOIP software? I'm also looking to minimise outbound call costs. The current solution is for unlimited calls, but am prepared to pay for calls if the software behind it is a reasonable price.

Option 2 stick with the current hardware and try to find a cloud-based solution with a new PBX? (does that even make sense?). So I will need super fast broadband and VOIP software? I'm also looking to minimise outbound call costs. The current solution is for unlimited calls, but am prepared to pay for calls if the software behind it is a reasonable price.

Option 3 - look at softphone options whether they be cloud based or not?

Ideally the functionality I would like is:

Obviously good call quality

call recording

remotely listen

call queuing

Can I assume the costs will be broken down into:

Broadband

VOIP solution

outbound Call cost

Does this all make sense?

I am only really prepared to pay monthly and have an open term contract as we are either really busy or really quiet. Ideally I'd like to pay less than $600 a month for this solution. And I hope I'm asking the right questions.

Thanks in advance.

Arrowhead (AAP) Elite S with IP-Module. Can this call out using VoIP?

$

We have an Arrowhead Elite S alarm with the IP module installed. The owners before us had this installed. I've managed to get the app on my phone and can unlock /lock from there, and it seems to do push notifications. We had the same alarm at our old house, but it connected to a copper line, and called us when activated. I'd ideally like to do this like this again, but via VoIP. I've checked the download material, but even though it refers to VoIP, it also says it won't work.... We can get a free VoIP service from our Internet provider, but we currently don't have it.

From the paperwork;

TELEPHONE WIRING OPTION 3: with Voice over IP System

VoIP phone lines will Not work

with the Alarm System.

I'm a bit of a noob sorry, and I've left about a dozen messages for the installer (who I'd happily pay) to no avail. I just don't trust the push notifications, and would like the call as well.

Any advice appreciated

Dave

Hello,

I have an ATA186, and I want to configure it for 2Talk. I can find only some of the fields I need in the config interface.

Has anyone had experience with these and where to set the username and password for 2talk, for instance?

I have a slingshot router (192.168.1.1)

I have the ATA ip address (192.168.1.23)

Here's what the config page says:

Can you give me a pointer or two?

Just trying to sign up with 2talk and following there signup process you have to phone to auth the account then you get a password reset link, then ... nothing, so go to there login page and you need to login with a phone number, which I don't have.

Is this just me missing something?

Call Zero website problem

I have been using Call zero for years as a low cost way to make international calls via a normal landline, but it also allows you to make free NZ calling. However since moving house with a new number, it doesn't work. When you enter your details on their website, it should ring the number, but it doesn't. I have tried to contact their support, but no reply. As they are owned by 2Talk and I contacted them, and although I did get a reply initially to try something, after giving them the results, they also didn't reply. Currently I have an amount of credit with them which i can't use. Anyone know why this may not work or have similar problems. I am thinking it is something to do with having a newish landline number.
