Hi anybody and everybody. Not sure if this is the place for this.Does anyone have knowledge of a test device that can connect inline or pass through to ( say ) a fibre ONT and Firewall/router WAN to see what data streams are being sent to the router, my main interest is in VoIP data streams.I am not interested in the down side of the router, I have Wireshark for that .Thank you in advance

Issues with two IP phones failing to log in
I use VoIP for my home office and utilise a Grandstream GXP-1610 for this and 2talk provide the services. I recently added another identical Grandstream device in my network for use in the kitchen. Everything went well at first, but now one of the phone always loses registration with the SIP server. This never occurred when I only had one.If I restart my entire network and both phones, they'll come back online, but only for a short while. They have unique phone numbers for each, but sometimes when a call is dialled to the kitchen phone, the office one will ring. There's no forwarding or hunt group rules set up.I currently use Google Wifi to run my entire network. I have VLAN tagging disabled and the main Wifi base connected directly to the ONT. An unmanaged network switch then shares that connection with the ethernet jacks around the home. Are the two phones fighting for dominance and the connection to 2talk? Way out of my depth here and any guidance would be appreciated.

Hero or Spoke or something else?
Hi, I'm after some advice. I am setting up a small business and need a landline number for this. I don't need to have lots of fancy PBX things, just a decent call package to include landlines and mobiles. It needs to be reliable and ideally, have fax capabilities (mainly incoming). I either need an ATA or I could use mobile apps if they are actually reliable. I need an incoming number and the ability to hunt if it's not answered. I have narrowed my search down to Hero or Spoke - your thoughts please? I have had a VfX line for years which has been l=flawless but they don't do great mobile bundles. I probably need up to 500 mins/month but possibly a lot less. Thanks A

VOIP no longer working with Gigabit upgrade
We were on Fibre with Slingshot on a HG659 (we don't like using the Slingshot modem because EVERYDAY at like 1/2am in the morning the internet disconnects with Slingshot modems)We had our VOIP Set up already which was working fine as per these settings:Does anyone know what the new settings are for Gigabit with Slingshot?

Linksys New Zealand specific configuration
For the past week I've been working on some New Zealand specific setup files for Linksys phones and ATA's.The configuration settings that are listed in numerous websites in NZ do not have a complete set of New Zealand tones (and some are wrong), have incorrect FXS settings for the NZ line impedance (which can cause echo if you're using an ATA) and have a poor dialplan.I've worked through the Telecom TNA102 spec which defines tones in NZ and have also spent a lot of time working on a dialplan which will allow calling virtually every number in NZ with no delay - ie when you dial 041234567 it matches this immediately and connects the call with no delay. My plan is to very soon make a blog post live which contains all of these settings. I will also be hosting a .cfg provisioning file that will allow people to set a provisioning rule in your phone or ATA and download all of the correct settings to your device. It will not override any account settings in your device, it will just set the dialplan, tones, FXS impedance, timezone, daylight savings rule and a couple of other minor NZ specific settings.I'm undecided at this stage of a couple of things including whether I should leave the provisioning rule enabled (so once per week it would check for a new updated file) or disable this after it downloads the settings.Right now I'm after some feedback from people about this idea and also after a few people who are interested in testing this. If you have a Linksys device connect to VFX this won't be of any interest to to as WxC provision your device with the correct settings. I'm aiming this at people who are either their phone with their own PBX such as Asterisk, or a service such as iTalk, 2talk, Orcacom etc that all have the incomplete or incorrect settings available on their support websites. While the risk is very minimal as always there is a risk of things going wrong so if you're not comfortable reconfiguring your device if something did go wrong it's probably best you don't test it! EDIT: A blog and full configuration settings can ve viewed here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/sbiddle/7208

Issues calling ex-Vodafone number ported to VoIP - need help testing
I've ported over a phone number that has been with Vodafone on copper service for the last 10 years to a Hero's VoIP service and it works great. The only problem I'm having is that I think Vodafone might have a call-table / routing issue inside their VoIP network. I have one person who is on Vodafone Ultimate VDSL and Voice and they cannot call this number. When they do they are told the number is not in service. However, I can call it from my Vodafone mobile phone with no problems?Wondering if anyone else out there has Vodafone residential VoIP service and might be able to help me by calling this number from their VoIP and letting me know if it rings through or if you get a voice prompt saying the number is not in service? If you can help, please send me a PM. Would be most appreciated!

Programming IVRs with YAML
This is a bit of an obscure query, but I figured if anyone knows about this stuff they're probably a frequent visitor to these here parts! :)I'm currently in the process of programming an IVR system (for a LiveAgent install), which uses YAML.I am not familiar with YAML, but I am fluent in a few different programming languages, so the general concepts aren't difficult for me. However, I am having issues working out the YAML logic and available commands etc.I have found a number of tutorials etc, but there appears to be quite a few different YAML implementations, each with their own peculiarities and I can't find anything relating specifically to IVR systems. Can anyone point me to a good reference resource for YAML as it pertains to IVR systems?

Homeline pots through ONT - not modem
Upgraded to Fibre with Homeline with Slingshot. Their modem is the most garbage thing in terms of wifi. Upgraded to an ASUS one which doesn't have a pots port in it.I was told by a mate (who is on Slingshot) that i can hook it up to the ONT box's pots port and call Slingshot up to provision it. Can anyone confirm they can do this too?I called Slingshot and the guy i was dealing with said it's not possible to do such a thing and quickly tried to dismiss the call because it's a 3rd party router...even though I'm talking about the ONT box Landline is an essential

3CX hosted on Amazon Lightesail - Registering phone issue
Hi All,I have set up 3CX on a Amazon Lightesail VM and have the PBX largely configured. The issue I am having is registering phones, I have set up a Session Boarder Controller using a Raspberry Pi.The instructions say that you can just restart the phones and they will show in 3cx console --> Phones ready to be assigned to an extension. When I have done this I can not see any phones that were on our network, thinking I might have stuffed up I have reinstalled the software on the Pi but there has been no change.I have turned off the Pi and installed the SBC on my desktop but same result ( I copied the SBC password so it should not be a password issue ) Can someone please let me know if this is or is not the case, It is a shame there is no indication on the 3CX console that the SBC is up and working, this has been a feature request for years from what I have found online.I am trying to provision phones by the weblink but this has mixed results. The phones I have with the PBX are Yealink T27P ( working ) Yealink T26P ( Not working )SNOM 320 ( not working )While these phones are not offically supported as they are on the end of life list they are on the list of supported phones.I was under the impression that with a SBC the provisioned and unprovisioned phones will show in the phones tab.In the profile extn: optionsDisallow use of extension outside the LAN (Remote extensions using Direct SIP or STUN will be blocked) is unticked. Thanks in advance.John

Fanvil Phones not displaying CID
We supplied some X6 Fanvils to a client as a phone to connect to the Voyager VOIP System. We have done this a number of times, though not usually the X6, and CID works fine on other sites. This one site, no phones present CID when they call out (recipient shows as unknown caller on incoming calls from this site). Updated Firmware and no change. If I set up a softphone from the same users details, CID works fine. Anyone seen this and know what might be causing it?

Cheap VoIP provider for Europe to replace Skype
Given that Microsoft have gone full retard and driven the final nail into Skype's coffin with the recent update, I've decided it's easier to switch a few folks who want to call relatives in Europe over to VoIP, or at least something that isn't going to kark itself every time MS pushes out the next broken update. Having had a quick look around, there's a ton of providers who all seem to range from slightly dodgy through to full-on sleazy. Can anyone recommend a VoIP provider who will allow cheap-as-possible phonecalls to France or Germany, maybe a couple of hours a month total? All I'm after is cheap calls to local landlines in one of those two countries.

What ATA supports home extension lines with normal ringer and no interrupts?
Short Enquiry: Just moved over to Kiwi VOIP, taking our landline number with us from Spark. They supplied the Yeastar TA100 ATA and programmed it. Ringer just chirped (very short ring, then long silence), regardless of how I program distinctive ring. Unplug the extension lines, and it rings better, but changing the Distinctive Ringtone ring-on/off makes no difference, setting the microseconds to different lengths does nothing. Further, I need the phones throughout the house, not just the one plugged into the ATA.Additionally, with the extension lines plugged it, voice cuts in and out, to the point that the person on the line gets frustrated until I unplug the extensions or we go to mobile. KiwiVoip says the ATA is probably the culprit, but they cannot recommended another ATA.Anyone know an ATA made to power extensions... normal copper house wiring? It may be one with a power supply to drive the other extension phones in places like the workshed and the kitchen.--------------------Long story: Recently Gulf Internet on Waiheke upgraded me to unlimited/uncapped 75+/75+ mbps service. I've been running them since they began as YNET yonks ago, but as a small company in a rural area, they faced challenges. Thus, I also kept an ADSL subscription with Spark, again having been with them since 1997. When one would fail, I would switch to the other, but recently found that Gulf Internet was become stable enough to have a hard look at the $116/month Spark was charging, especially as they changed policy to charge when the household went over the 60GB cap, trying to get me to upgrade to unlimited. Having run Magic Jack VOIP for years with US lines, and sounds-like-you-are-next-door quality, I decided to begin by moving the landline over to VOIP. We hardly use the landline anymore, but enough to merit keeping it. So I signed up and KiwiVoip put in the change order for the landline.I then called Spark to make sure they would remove the landline service from my account but keep the broadband, as I wanted to move slowly. The automated voice offered to call me back in 90 to 120 minutes. Yeah right. So I went to chat. The first person did not have a clue - saying my account was closed! But the second "upper tier" person was a Fawlty Towers type who managed to alienate me as a customer forever. He blamed everyone for what happened... and it took a while to understand Spark not only relinquished the voice line, they closed my broadband account. So think about this... if I had only one broadband service (Spark), the KiwiVoip would have stopped working. Surely someone anticipated this in Spark (anyone remember 2006, when then CEO of Spark, Theresa Gattung said ""Think about pricing. What has every telco in the world done in the past? It's used confusion as its chief marketing tool. And that's fine," said Gattung in a speech recorded on March 20) because this was a very effective way of making it difficult to leave. But KiwiVoip was clear that all they asked to move over was the landline number; that moving broadband service requires different documentation. The best I can figure out is that my broadband is tied to the home phone number, so when that is ported away, Spark sunk me. Stupid of them losing a 22 year loyal customer, but as a former state monopoly it seems their ethos of dumb insolence is still alive and well. The crazy part of this is that I used to use Spark for mobile, but shifted to Skinny, porting the number with me. Spark service was awful. Calling it a help line is inaccurate as the overseas rep every so politely provided no help. Repeating back, constantly apologising, never actually solving issues. We had an ADSL problem that took 14 months of email and phone calls to sort even though on day one I told them Chorus had just installed a new card in the box servicing their ADSL customers, and it probably had a defect. In the process, they had to repay $300 in damages and waste massive amounts of their salaried staff time. With our mobile, I went to Skinny where real Kiwis who know their stuff answer the phone in minutes or even seconds. They cost less. They allow rollover minutes for calls and broadband. The sound quality is excellent. I pay $16 for four weeks. But Skinny is owned by Spark. Maybe someone could organise a reverse takeover where everyone at Spark, starting at the board level, is sacked and all the policies rescinded, to be replaced by the Skinny model. But I digress...To rub salt in the wound, I still have to pay for a month of Spark without ADSL service. I had not planned to leave Spark, but paying them to reconnect me for their mistake (or bad policy) was more than I was prepared to take on. So now I am on one service for broadband supporting another VOIP service, trying to get everything debugged and operational; hence my looking for advice on an ATA that properly powers extension lines on the house wiring. Too bad Magic Jack does not port over NZ land lines. All I want is a clear phone land line and good broadband that works with VOIP be it ATA TA100, Magic Jack, Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, etc.I am also not convinced that KiwiVoip is the right vendor. Price is right, but their support guy - who tries hard - lacks ATA knowledge. Unplugging the extension lines is not a good answer. He does not know enough about other ATA devices, especially ones made for a house with conventional phone wiring where wireless phones cannot penetrate the 300mm solid walls. I've read the discussion on domestic VOIP, and discovered WXC and Hero VOIP services, but have not gone further than looking at their web sites. Anyone in 2019 have a recommendation for best, reasonably priced VOIP?

2talk - no outbound calls, new Grandstream GXP2170 phone
I've been using 2talk for years with 4 phone lines, without issue, using an old Grandstream GXP2000 device (for 3 office lines), and a Grandstream HT801 (for 1 home line).Just got a new Grandstream GXP2170 phone (to replace the GXP2000), as the gxp2000 was getting old and having sound issues. But cannot make outbound calls via the 2170, only receive incoming calls.I'm using all the same settings as the old GXP2000, e.g. Sip Server / Outbound proxy = tls.2talk.co.nz, and correct user ID and password. The 2talk portal shows the line as registered, and I'm only trying one line by itself first (rather than all lines).Syslog debugging gives me this error when attempting an outbound call from an 06 number to a 021 mobile number (any outbound number fails): (removed the ip and numbers)(542)SIP/2.0 401 Unauthorized..Via: SIP/2.0/UDP xxx.xx.xxx.xx:5062;branch=z9hG4bK408286934;received=xxx.xx.xxx.xx;rport=5062..From: "XXX" <sip:06xxxxxxx@tls.2talk.co.nz>;tag=1407541580..To: <sip:021xxxxxx@tls.2talk.co.nz>;I've tried changing my main 2talk password, and tested this successfully back in the old gxp2000 device, but the gxp2170 still fails to make outbound calls, and gives the error above.Tried 2talk support chat, but as its the weekend there is no response.Anyone here using one of the Grandstream GXP21xx devices?

2talk clarity needed
2Talks website is a little lacking in explaining their acronyms/terms etc....NZ Local mins - guess this is those in your "local" calling areaNZ 2T Country Mins - Rest of NZ and other countries designated ? Currently I'm in Whangaparaoa, and although its considered as "Auckland", our call plans are not, so to call my folks in South Auckland, its considered a toll call. So that would fall under the NZ/2T minutes. Correct ?Is there any way I can get a "local" Auckland number - then my calls to my folks and friends are local, but obviously any calls to the Rodney/HBC area will be "tolls". An 028 is not an option. I am not interested in their internet offerings, just voice. If someone can point out another VoIP provider worth looking at, feel free to link drop.

help for a newb
Hi AllI just got fibre installed at my martial arts club via orcon. They provided a router with a phone port. I went to Noel Leemings and purchased the uniden 8355 phone. They don't seem to work together. Am I to believe that a higher end modern phone will not work with the most commonly used method of supplying a landline today? Do I need to take the phone back and exchange it for a different model, or is there just some kind adapter I need? thanks,Mike

ATA phone / Fritzbox receiving calls - VOIP phones NOT
I have an older ATA phone on may desk that is plugged in to the ATA port on our Fritzbox 7490. As well as that we have 3 Yealink VOIP phones around the house connected to a basestation. When we receive a phonecail only the ATA phone rings or responds to the call. The Yealink VOIP phones do not see it at all, don't ring and can't answer the call. Despite that they will make outgoing calls with no issues AND with the ATA phone unplugged from the Fritzbox respond and receive calls just fine. Does anyone know if or what the setting might be either on the Yealink settings or maybe in the Fritzbox ones to get the VOIP phones to see incoming calls with the ATA phone plugged in to the Fritzbox ?
